About HM Awards
The HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence, presented by Sealy, are in their 11th year in 2013 and are the leading awards for the accommodation industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

This year’s awards ceremony will be held on 6th September, 2013 at Sydney Town Hall. Around 50 awards will be handed out within a range of categories, from people and departments, to properties and chains. Over 800 different properties are likely to be nominated.
Nominations
Nominations are judged by a selected panel of 50 industry experts and leading travel editors and writers. The finalists and winners are then decided, with the results being audited externally by Ernst & Young. Nominations for the 2013 HM Awards open on the 1st May. Hotels and staff at properties across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific are urged to submit a nomination. For more information on nominations, click here.

History & Attendance
In the past 11 years, over 5,200 people have attended the HM Awards and more than 500 awards have been awarded to hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. In 2012, around 600 people gathered at Sydney Town Hall for the presentation dinner.
“In so many awards ceremonies, it’s all about the hotel itself. But the HM Awards are really about the oft-forgotten fact that the industry is so much more than just bricks, mortar, king size beds and goose-down pillows. It’s the people that make hotels what they are and that’s why we believe they should receive the most recognition,” says James Wilkinson, Managing Editor of Hotel Management.
